The Hideaway – Waldorf Hotel - Vancouver, British Columbia

Stayed here 2 nights. Room was fine. Newer flooring & paint. A/C & heater & all bathroom amenities provided. Maids were very helpful & got us extra things we needed. Front desk lady was very helpful. Helped us with dinner coupons at the restaurant & coupons for all our excursions. ... There were a very few homeless people around. But if you go 6 or so blocks away there was tons of homeless people. Any big city has them. No shock here. I’m from L.A. California so it doesn’t bother me at all. Read more

We were hesitant because of restaurant/bar downstairs, however we were pleasantly surprised to have a nice quiet night. We had family stay closer to downtown and had an awful night with noise. We saved money and got a quiet nights sleep. Staff was amazing.

This "Hotel" should be a 1* hotel Located in a very bad area of the city with lots and lots of homeless / drugged people sometimes is very scary just to walk. Rooms looks ok, but it was very noisy from the bar and also from the outside ventilation system. Rooms facing north ... don't have a view either, since they look into the port administration area. Clean but not enough with so old furniture. Definitely is not the hotel I'll take in consideration again. Read more

Stayed here 2 nights Thursday/Friday night, loved my stay! Staff were so lovely and accommodating ; front desk, housekeeping, the bar staff, everyone was so kind. Yes you can hear the music but they tell you that everywhere when you're booking , and the bar has the best playlist ever, ... always a good song on. Room could use a deep cleaning, like on the walls but was clean otherwise. I was also extremely nervous to be on East Hastings Street, but felt quite safe around the hotel stepping out for a smoke and such. Will definitely be back!! Read more

I was pleasantly surprised by my stay here. After reading some negative reviews, I decided there was enough positive feedback for me to give it a try. And the price was the best I could find in the city at the time. I did book it through my air miles ... but I believe the rate was something in the neighborhood of 120 per night. It's located in a somewhat sketchy area but I was aware of this before booking. The gentleman behind the front desk at check in was very friendly and conversational and gave me the feeling that this was going to be a good stay. This hotel is only a couple of floors so there is no elevator and the rooms are still secured using old school keys which I probably I just as secure if not more so than the modern key cards. Be warned that this is not a new hotel by any means and common areas could use a little bit of love as they are a little bit run down. Our room had been completely renovated and had new laminate flooring as throughout which gave a sense of cleanliness, and the rest of the room including the washroom was completely spotless. Bedding was relatively new, the bed was super comfortable. Some reviews mentioned street noise and noise from the downstairs bar but we came on a weeknight and the noise was virtually nothing, so we got a good nights sleep. So much so that we actually overslept and were an hour late for checkout. Graciously the staff did not charge us for the extra hour. Staff here are genuinely friendly and appear to enjoy their jobs very much which is nice to see. All in all, for value, this hotel did not disappoint. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend as probably the best budget hotel in the city. Read more
